On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, The University of Southern Mississippi opened the doors of the Marine Research Center at the Port of Gulfport for a preview of the facility and a reception with Dr. Robert Ballard. Dr. Ballard is best known for his 1985 discovery of the RMS Titanic. An official ribbon-cutting for the new building is set for Friday, September 21 at 10am.
