GULFPORT, Miss. – Jonathan Daniels begins his tenure as executive director and CEO of the Mississippi State Port Authority today.
Daniels comes to the Port of Gulfport from the Port of Oswego in upstate New York where he has served as executive director since 2007. Daniels’ background also includes economic and business development experience.
“I look forward to working with the Port’s Board of Commissioners, the Mississippi Development Authority, Governor Phil Bryant and his team, the MSPA staff, ILA, tenants and all state and community stakeholders to move the Port of Gulfport forward and establish the operation as a premier port on the Gulf Coast,” said Daniels.
Daniels joins the Port in the midst of a construction boon. The MSPA recently awarded a $55 million contract to Mississippi firm L & A Contracting to provide a new wharf face for the entire west pier, one of several construction contracts representing a total estimated value of $130-180 million scheduled for award this year as part of the Port’s $570 million restoration program.
